RE: A Cooperative Approach
Our Religious Exploration (RE) program is driven by a team effort. Our part-time Director of Religious Exploration (DRE) works in collaboration with the RE committee, a team of teachers, and other adult volunteers to ensure that children have a positive and illuminating experience at UUCC.
Esther Rupert, DRE, is starting her third year as a staff member and her first year of programming for all ages. She has a background in Elementary Education, is Montessori certified, and currently homeschools her three children. She loves living in the country and learning how to love learning through encounters will all kinds of children.
A strong religious exploration committee helps to chart the course for each academic year and summer program. The members bring their own expertise and insights into creating, maintaining, and growing our RE program in conjunction with the needs of our members and friends. The committee meets on the first Sunday of each month at 11:15 and is open to anyone who has interest or an idea to share.
Some RE committee members and other adult volunteers commit to teaching on a set topic once per month through the academic year. Theologically curious and innovative, these teachers seek to engage the children with facts and flashlights to shine on the truths uncovered along our spiritual journey.
Other volunteers patiently fill our need for loving nursery care, “floating” (moving among the classes to offer help as needed), and leading a new youth group. With such dedicated adults, we strive to reflect the warmth and generosity natural to all children.
