Four Sacred Texts will come alive for the children through story-telling, discussion questions, art expression, role playing, and other activities relevant to the stories or their historical and cultural contexts.
After we hear a story, the children will choose to respond with whichever activity feels comfortable to them. We'll have a real variety and many activities – especially the popular ones - will stay on the shelves and be available for multiple weeks.
We're pleased to announce the following teachers and topics for the academic year (September 2008 through May 2009):
~ the first Sunday of every month
Esther / Compass of Zen / Buddhism
~ the second Sunday of every month
Mary / Tao Te Cheng / Taoism
~ the third Sunday of every month
Renee / The Bible / Christianity
~ the fourth Sunday of every month
Susie & Karen / Bhagavad Gita / Hinduism
We encourage any child who feels inspired to actively participate in the first part of the worship service upstairs. Ringing the bell, lighting the chalice (with or without a parent), playing the prelude or accompanying a hymn are all options that can be arranged. Many children also feel comfortable sharing during joys and concerns.
